Institute of Visual Informatics (IVI)

Leading Digital Technology Across Industrial Revolution

Intelligent Data Analytics Lab

Intelligent Data Analytics Lab was originally established in 2014 by the Institute of Visual Informatics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The Laboratory is highly relevant in this Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) age as it addresses several research fields in application domain of visual analytics, analytical reasoning, artificial intelligence, data mining, data modelling, data visualisation, information visualisation, knowledge visualisation, knowledge discovery, intelligence analysis, machine intelligence, pattern analysis, sentiment analysis, social computing, visual analytics, visual data exploration, data discovery and visualisation for information retrieval. The aims of this research is to turn the information overload into an opportunity by enabling decision-makers and analysts to extract relevant information from the flood of data. The field of Intelligent Data Analytics focuses on handling massive, heterogenous, and dynamic volumes of information by integrating human judgement by means of visual representations and intelligent techniques in the analysis process.

The lab has predominantly focused on how to integrate multiples sources of information when making the analysis processes. These processes may involve several related technique in visualisation, data mining, machine learning and statistics. The combination turns the Intelligent Data Analytics into a promising field of research. To implement mechanisms underlying this research area, the lab is equipped with server, workstation, personal computers, OCR scanner, plotter printer, smart panel and large screen displays.
